This is love...

Bella loves her brother. Even though he can get snarky, even though he can demand personal space, even when he won't let her lick his food bowl before he is done... she loves him. I have seen her kiss him on so many occasions, but I was finally lucky enough tonight to have the camera handy. What is love if it isn't cleaning your favorite person's ear out for them???
Come here Bo, we've got grooming to do.
Oh! thats the stuff! Now here, I caught Bo kissing her back, but he is a lot more camera shy. My babies love each other!!! :)

I'm a good boy!

For the most part, Bella Bean is the mischief maker... but every once in a while Bo will let his guard down and let his silliness loose. And if there is any paper within reach... confetti!!!

I didn't just shred the doggy day care schedule, it musta been Bean! Can't you see I'm being framed!!!

Ewwww, whats that smell???

Ewww, Bo what did you eat?!? Maybe this isn't the best seat in the house... :P

Bella being herself

Bella Bean is always such entertainment. She has so much expressions in her face, and she is always doing something that just makes us laugh. From knocked out on the couch after a long hard day of snoozing:
And looking sweet and innocent, even though we know better...
Making us laugh with the guilty eyes even when you haven't done anything wrong, yet.
To being squirrley and flirty in the mornings, just begging for someone to play with her, or cuddle her or to just give you some attention:
Our little girl completes our little family. She makes our hearts swell, and she even gets her brother to let loose and play. Now if we could only get her to leave the bunnies alone... :)

New treats!

This week we tried out a new treat. It looked like a beef poof. Not sure what part of the cow, but they loved it. Being that I've necer given them this particular treat before I watched them to make sure that they wouldn't choke on it or anything. They got so into the new puffs that they didn't notice that they were only inches from each other as opposed to the good several feet apart that they like to be when eating. Just look at how much they loved it!
This is great!
Chop licking good!

Rabbit massacre

Unfortunately, this massacre isn't as funny as the penguin massacre, because there was a real bunny involved in this one. Every morning we take the dogs out a few times to make sure that there are little if no "surprises" in the dog room when we get home. And they are really good about taking their sweet old time or just trying to trick us into letting them back in from the cold without actually doing anything. They will take a loop around, and then come back to the door. So Jon and I will go into another room (that has a better backyard view) to make sure business has been taken care of. In the very short time it took for us to go into this next room, Bella had seen, chased down and snatched a big rabbit from who knows where. Poor girl was so excited and happy with her prize, both Jon and I... appalled :P. We run to the back door and call for the dogs. Bo was very uninterested in the commotion, going about his morning routine, but Bella was just dancing around with poor bunny and wanted to bring her new fluffy inside (eeeeewwww). We got her to drop it and come in, but poor Mr. Bunny was still alive. In our moral dilemma of do we end it's obvious suffering or let nature take it course, it passed on to it's own bunny heaven where there aren't any greyhounds with thousands of years of instinct going after it. Which was good for us b/c we found out that neither of us could do intentional harm to an animal. Bella was very distressed that we let her bunny go to waste. She was whining and amiling and scratching to back outside to find her lost treasure. No such luck honey. I had the camera right by the back door so there is a picture with her find, but I'm kind of heistant to post it though. It isn't grusome, but it is a caught rabbit. Now we have the fun job of waiting to see if there were any fun germies in the bunny that has been given to Bella. Non stop fun in the Peckham household.

Bo's scare

We have a pupper that is under the weather. :( Yesterday I took the dogs to their favorite doggy day care, I do this once every 2 weeks for their socialisation with other dogs and just to break up the routine sometimes. I talked with the ladies there and Bo and Bella were fine all day. The drive home was uneventful, and I was looking forward to go out on a date with my husband that we had planned. When I got home, Bo started coughing. And not a normal, I accidentally swallowed something I shouldn't have, cough but a weird snort/cough/retch. It was scary to see because he was hurting, and Jon and I were clueless. We decided to watch him to see if it was something that passed... but after an hour he was still feeling bad. We loaded the crew up and went to the e-vet. They did an exam, the did x-rays (multiple) and after all the time and $$$$ they came up empty. Nothing wrong could be seen or heard, and the whole while, not a single cough. As soon as we got home he was huffing again, so I'm still a nervous wreck. This morning he seems a little better, but we are keeping a close eye on him. Poor Bo. :(

Winter

So I am not a big winter fan. I grew up in the South and this "snow" thing (even after 14 years) hasn't grown on me yet. Don't get me wrong. It is beautiful and makes the winter cold almost tolerable :).
Well, Bo Seeya and Bella Bean are along my same lines of thinking. They are not fans of cold, they need to get bundled up to go outside and they still would rather hold it in longer than they should than go outside. But they see a good side in it too. They love to sun around and chase each other in the fresh snow. I'm still unconvinced :D.
May I present... pups in coats:

The many faces of Bo

My handsome boy has and old soul. He has his goofy moments, but he tends to act like he wants to be more refined than Bella. But every once in a while he'll do something that'll make you just double over in laughter. Here are the many faces of Bo Seeya:

Stoic Bo. This is how he likes the world to see him. Tall dark and handsome! Talking Bo. He'll break a little bit of character for this, but he'll roo at any provocation now!

And finally...

Are you ready???

Snarly Bo. I mentioned Breakfast and caught him mid chop smacking. I'm sure he'd be apalled that I'm posting this of him... but can you blame me?

Rude Awakening

With Jon working 3rd shift, Bella has been invited on the bed with me when he is gone. Some nights she takes me up on the offer, other nights she prefers her own bed and her own space. Last night she graced me with her presence and allowed me a quarter of the bed (she needs to spread out). Well this morning, when Jon came home, he got a couple of pictures of Bean curled up and making fine use of the pillow top bed (note, I am not pictured b/c I don't look as good as Bella first thing in the morning! :D)...
Moooom, move over! your crouching in on my space!

Hey! what's with the camera?

Humph! shutterbugs!

A few Bean pictures

Unlike Bo, Bella seems to handle the camera in her face a bit better than Bo. She'll actually pose a bit for us. Here are a few of our most recent favorites:

Yes, I see you there!

Zzzzz, snort, zzzzzzzzz

Getting her beauty sleep.

Goodnight everybody!

This, good people, is why a greyhound is commonly referred to as "needle nose". Check out that schnoz! (and the look of comtempt, he doesn't like pictures :D)

Rooing

http://s96.photobucket.com/albums/l187/L_mactans/?action=view&current=P1000167.flv ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, I have tried and tried, but I cannot post the rooing photobucket image on the blog. So I am just putting the link, crossing my fingers and hoping beyond hope that this works. This is the pups singing. You can hear us starting the roo, but both of them get into it with such gusto that I could barely keep the camera from shaking, I was laughing so hard!

Mmmmm treats!

Yesterday the pups got new bones. Yummy pre-filled ones. Cheese & bacon and peanut butter ones. They were so into these bones. I had some errands to do in the basement, and being that they tend to get naughty when I can't watch them in the basement (too many undiscovered smells that I think I'd rather leave unknown), I brought down a bed and their bones. They were SO engrossed with the bones that Bo let down his personal space rule again. The fact that they were on the same bed and there weren't any gripes... wow.
Bo: I got cheese and bacon! What did you get?
Bella: Mmmmm, I got Peanut Butter! Bo: Hey is that the Goodyear blimp over there?!?
Bella: Where? Behind me??
Bo: Got your bone!!! Hahahaha
After a yummy snack, there is nothing better than curling up and taking a quick nap.

New collars!

It was time for a small wardrobe change. The pink and blue are out and onto something fancier.
I wanted real martingale collars this time because Bo's old walking collar had a metal ring that occasionally would whip back and hit him when he was running. No fun for anyone. So tag collar and walking collar all in one! And lets call out the models:

Bo's new threads

Modeling is boring, I'm going to take a nap...

Bella showing off her red asian fan collar Looking demure I just had to throw this feet one in too. I just love the toes!

How can I resist this face??

As Jon and I are working, we occasionally get badgered for attention. Ms. Bean here is doing everything in her power to distract me from the computer and onto her.
"But moooooom, I need scratches!"

Spoiled, spoiled, spoiled

We love the pupers, and we try to make sure that they are happy here and comfortable with this as their forever home. But every once in a while I step back and wonder... am I spoiling them??? I think the below pictures say it all.
It was a chilly night and we keep the thermostat low at night so save energy. Jon and I have a nice warm comforter keeping us warm... so the pups should too! 1st Bella snuggled in her new blankey, then Bo with his layers. I think this is another good time to mention that they have a pillow bed, a comforter on top of that and a second comforter over them. Thank you Goodwill!
Here we have Bella taking up the WHOLE couch to stretch out on while we are milling about the house. Her coat is open because she was getting too warm and started to pant. I opened her jacket so she could get cool air and she did this beautiful roach pose... nearly kicking me off the couch in the process. Within seconds she was in a dead sleep. We'd call her name, howl, but nothing would get her up out of her relaxed daze. That is until we casually asked who wanted to go outside. Wide awake, and off the couch in a few seconds flat. I just love the last picture as she's scrambling up... if I turned it upside down it would almost look like she is flying!

Happy New Year!

This new year we kept things very low key, and being that Jon had to work, it was just me and the pups.
In our sitting room the dogs have "their" own spots. Bo on the dog bed on the floor and Bella on the couch, whether or not there is a person on it or not. Bo has long ago been banned from the couch because he feels he needs a certain amount of personal space and will vocalize when he feels that this space had been invaded. Well, we don't want him to think he can tell us who is boss, so he gets floor... but comfy floor (beds and blankets and comforters).
Well, tonight I decided that Bo had a second chance coming, so I invited him on the couch with Bean and I.
That small wedge between the pups is my spot. Please notice that the recliner is out so Bella's legs weren't falling off the couch. Yes, they are spoiled. :)

Bo laying pretty

No sooner than I took these pictures and got back on the couch, Bo tried to tell me that I was sitting too close. I told him he was officially warned. A few minutes later he tried once more. Banished! As a naughty boy sometimes does when punished, he kind of ground himself further into the couch as if to say "But I don't wanna get off the couch!" So I had to resort to the spray water bottle. That got him off the couch quick enough. Later on in the evening I went back to the sitting room and he stood by the couch, looked at the spot he wanted and then looked at me with the most mournful eyes as if to say, "Pleeeeeaaaase???" Nope! To your own bed Bo.

Poor moping Bo. :(
