Dog park crash

My two pups ran their hearts out at the dog park. Making new friends, sniffig new smells, tapping some bottomless pee reserve in order to mark every 2 minutes!!! :) So as soon as we got into the car, they just crashed... and hard. In the car:

As soon as we got home: And later that night, they were so tired... that Bo totally forgot his "personal space" issue that he has with Bella (She'll snuggle anything!)

Awwwwwww!

DOG PARK!!!

This weekend we went to the dog park with our greys for the 1st time. The nervous mom came out on me, and I was afraid to let them loose. The park it totally enclosed, but worse case senarios kept coming up in my head. But they had a blast and didn't think of me for a second while there. Fortunately the loved the dogs we were walking with so that kept them somewhat close by. I kep the muzzles on until I've had them for a little longer and can predict their behaiour more. Again, they had a blast.

We would never spoil the dogs

And this is proof positive that the above statement is a total lie. They just got new yummy filled bones and were munchin away in "their" room. I put their toys away, and within minutes the room looks like this.

How sweet

We got the dogs some new bedding (Thanks Goodwill!) and Bella snuggled right in and just look adorable.
Mom Peckham came by this weekend to meet the grandpups. Bella couldn't pass up the opportunity to mooch some extra snuggles. They fell in love with our pupsters and their gentle greyhound ways.
Bella: Is there room for me on the couch??

Mom Peckham met the grandpets

Grandma Peckham is snuggling Bella on the left. Cindy is deep into conversation.

Caramel adventure

This being the fall season and all, we have been enjoying the fall delights of honeycrisp apples with some "light" caramel on occasion. We have been very good about not letting the dogs eat people food. And I have been vigilant about "counter surfing", so much so that they rarely exhibit this anymore. Anywho... I had my honeycrisp apple and caramel. When I was done I put the tub o caramel on the counter and was distracted elsewhere. Bella, being a sneaky little dog she is, sniffed out the carmel, stood up and ate nearly the whole tub!!! Bo on the other hand seemed to have cared less what was up there and left well enough alone. I panic, b/c that is A LOT of sugar in one take. She is only about 65#. I was reassured that unless she was diabetic (which she is not), the only side effect we were looking at were the runs... Oh, and the runs she has. Ewww! So when I got home there were so many suprises for me in the dog's room, and I took her out every 10 minutes to make sure that I wasn't suprised elsewhere in the house. :P Last night she woke me to go outside 2xs. So, I'm tired, and quite grossed out and have learned a very dear lesson. Put the schtick away!!! :) Bella on the other hand has no idea why she is having all these tummy issues and hasn't learned a thing, I saw her checking out the counter when she thought I wasn't looking. *sheesh*

The Princess on her throne

This little girl hasfound every single comfy spot in the house and proclaims it property of The Bean, for her comfort enjoyment.
Check out this blush... "are you getting my good side?"

Think she's at home yet?

In less than 1 week Bella has taken retirement head on. I think she might be starting to feel at home already. :)

Watching TV

Bella loves animal planet. The other evening I was watching tv and reading (I'm just that talented!) and I noticed out of the corner of my eye that Bella was pretty tense and upright.

I look over to the TV and there is a little terrier dog running and jumping around like crazy... Bella was probably thinking we were watching The Food Network!

Night and day

Bo and Bella are SO different from each other. It is so much fun getting to kno Bella and watching the 2 dogs get to know each other. Bo is the kind of dog that takes life as it comes, real laid back and easygoing. Shy but stately. Bella, on the other hand, wants to take life by storm. She wants that next sniff, wants to know whats going on. This evening I'm walking the dogs and Bo is laggin behind at his own pace, while Bella is racing ahead because she thinks there might be a squirrel up ahead. So I have one arm stretched behind me and the other arm stretched out in front. What a sight!

Meet Bella Bean Peckham

This is the new addition to the Peckham home. Our Bella Bean:

She was Born 06/2003 so she is just over 3 years old. She has had a longer racing carreer than Bo, but was also not the best around. She is the polar opposit to Bo. Squirrley, HIGH prey drive, curious about everything and dainty.

Today was a beautiful day and I took the opportunity to spend some good outside time with the pooches. Some kinda cute pictures:

And Bo and Bella together:

She's discovered the couch!

Jon and I invited her on the couch last night and today, but thought she would be like Bo and be too uncomfortable to really take to it. Um, I think I was wrong...

We went looking for her tonight after she wandered away from us and this is what we found... al by herself... in the dark.

This is Bella playing by herself in the backyard. Tossing the stuffie up and making sure it's good and bitten by the time it hits the ground.

Bella is home!

So we are now a 2 dog family! Bella was adopted today by us at the greyhound Gala. We had so much fun! With all the bums to sniff (By Bo and Bella) and people to meet, and fun things to buy! I would like to introduce Bella:

Gala!

What an exciting day! Bo won the "longest tail" competition and just almost won the tallest dog. The winner beat Bo and another dog by 1/4" Bo was also clocked going 25 mph ashe was putting on his brakes. The police officer clocking him said that he didn't get him at his fastest. But I'm impressed with 25mph! And then there is Bella, formerly known as Pro.

GALA!! GALA!!!!

This upcoming Saturday is my (Kelly's) birthday, and all I want for my b-day is to go to the Greyhound Gala! There will be so many fun activities for us and the dog! Clock your dog, pretty collars and P.J.s, and best of all... adoption booth!! There is a very good possibility (about 100%) that Bo will be coming home with a girlfriend. We met her the day we met Bo and we were tempted to bring both home the same day. Now that we have about 5 weeks of actual living with greyhound knowledge... we are ready for #2. We just need to make sure that she and Bo will get along. If they "click" she's coming home with us. If, for some unknown reason, she doesn't work out... there are about 17 dogs there looking for a new home, so we have options. So in 3 days we will be a rather full household. :)

Proof behind the pudding. He can climb!

He looks so scared. But the poor brave lil Bo is doing it all on his own.
See, its not so scary
Just about there

Power profile. What a handsome boy!
Bo is enjoying a bit of the warmth of fall.

Stairs!!!

Bo hates the stairs. I can't even describe how that poor dog feels when the basement door is opened... the excitement of a new room opened followed by the despair that there are stairs. He is very long and leggy, and those really don't make for good stair climbing anatomy. I have tried on numerous occasions to show him how much fun downstairs is, but I have to literally give him no other choice or he will bolt as far away from the evil staircase as he can get. This morning, I was doing laundry in the basement with the door open and just kinda talking to Bo as he was pacing upstairs (he likes to be by my side) when I hear this herd of elephants tumbling down the stairs. He came down!! All by himself! No coaxing, no pushing, no treat bribery! All by his brave self! I am such a proud mamma right now. He even went back up without much ado either. Give him another couple of weeks and he will be a pro at this!

3 Weeks

We'll we've past 3 weeks and he still seems to be hiding a bit in his shell. He really comes out when we get home and when we go for walks. Otherwise he is snoozing in the corner and only occasionally comes and askes for snuggles. He has been getting sneakier about not wanting to go into his room when it is time for us to go. He knows when we are getting ready to leave, and he does all in his doggy power not to go in there when we want him in there. I hav all kinds of good stuffs, including a Kong filled with all kinds of goodness, but he starts to panic and sneaks out of the room just as I'm trying to squeeze out. We are sure that the poor guy is just lonely, and we are contemplating getting another dog lke we had originally planned, just a tad sooner. :) We'll se how things go. If it really turns out that it isn't the right time, we'll hold off.

How Bo takes out his frustration at being left alone

This is what you get for leaving me alone

Cute for cuteness sake
